Larchmont YC Team Wins Interclub

Midwinter Championship

John and Molly Baxter, Danny Pletsch and Emily Whipple successfully defended their title at the 2009 Interclub Midwinter Championship. Held annually at Severn Sailing Association, the IC Midwinters features “collegiate style” racing with an A Team and a B Team combining scores for the overall result.

The 2009 event saw gusty conditions on Saturday that only allowed for 3 races in each division, with lighter, shiftier conditions on Sunday for 3 more races in each class. Despite not winning any of the 12 races or either division, the team’s consistency paid as they were the only team to avoid a double-digit finish in the regatta. Larchmont YC frostbiters Steve Benjamin with crew Charlie McHugh placed first overall in the A division and Simon Strauss with Rosanne Pytowski finished fourth overall in the B division. Several other Larchmont frostbiters competed in the Midwinters, including Paul-Jon Patin, Peter and Rachel Beardsley and Stephane Lautner.
