Team LYC placed fourth at the U.S. Qualifying Series for the New York YC Invitational Cup.  The Qualifying Series featured 24 amateur teams from some of the most prestigious yacht clubs in the United States fighting to qualify for the 2011 Invitational Cup, an international competition to be held in Swan 42s.

The event began with a two-day preliminary series, with teams split into a red fleet and a blue fleet and alternating between sailing Sonars and J/22s.  LYC had the second best score in the red fleet after 12 races to advance to the gold fleet, with the top three teams from the gold fleet earning a berth in the 2011 regatta.  The racing in gold fleet was hotly contested, with every place in every race a battle since teams were prohibited from discarding their worst finish.  LYC was in seventh after the first day of gold fleet action, but mounted a furious comeback on the final day of the regatta.  Despite the strong effort, LYC missed the podium by a single point behind Annapolis YC, Eastern YC and Newport Harbor YC (California).  Danny Pletsch, Jay Rhame, David Dowd and Ryan Zupon sailed for Team LYC after Pletsch and Rhame won an LYC qualifying event in May.  Event website.
