David Meleney and Elizabeth Hawkins won the 2010 Vanguard 15
season championship.
LYC’s Vanguard 15 fleet, the largest Vanguard 15 fleet in the country and the largest one design fleet at LYC, celebrated the end of the season at its annual party on Saturday, October 23. The 2010 season saw racing on 19 Sundays and two fleet racing regattas, with 97 races run. Over the course of the season, 71 skippers and 110 crews participated. Summer sailing member David Meleney, with All American crew Elizabeth Hawkins, edged out skippers Peter Deming and Steve Streit to win the season championship.
In B fleet, eight-year old Charlie Roseberry, with his father and past fleet champion, Ned, as crew, won the title over family teams David and Hollie Renton and Eric and Danielle Beardsley. The Beardsleys also won the trophy for the biggest improvement from last season. Fleet captain Peter Beardsley, with wife Rachel, took home the Family Championship trophy. Buttons Padin, a founding member of the fleet and long-time supporter of the Vanguard 15 program and team racing, won the award for Fleet Dedication, while Stephane Lautner was voted by his peers the winner of the fleet sportsmanship award. 2010 final season standings.
