67th Edlu Race
SATURDAY, MAY 14, 2022
For ORC and PHRF boats. ORC boats with a GPH of 560
or lower must have a valid ORC International (ORCi) certificate.
With PHRF Double-handed, PHRF Non-spinnaker, Plus One and One-design classes (e.g. J/100, J/109, J/105, Soverel 33, or J/88) will be established if 5 or more entries are received.
The Edlu Race, first sailed in 1954, has long been a classic tune-up race for the around Block Island Race and Block Island Race Week. Followed by a classic party, it is one the must-do events on western Long Island Sound.
The spinnaker course is 32 nm from the Larchmont Breakwater to Gong 11B off Eaton's Neck and back. The non-spinnaker course is approximately 20 nm.
A Plus One Division is offered for shorthanded boats with a valid PHRF certificate, sailing with spinnakers. A boats crew limit is one more person than the 10s digit of the boat's overall length (in feet). Under this formula, boats from 20 to 29.9 feet sail with a crew of three, boats from 30 to 39.9 feet sail with four, etc. A Plus One class will be established if there are five or more entries.
Boats who do not have a valid certificate may participate in the Non-Spinnaker Class only and will be assigned a 1 time only rating. These entries are eligible for finish position trophies only and will not be eligible for any of the perpetual trophies.
Moorings will be available on a first-come basis at no charge. Please contact Marine Facilities at the Larchmont Yacht Club for reservations at (914) 468-7742.
