LYC COVID-19 Protocol for Regattas and Yachting Events

  • Larchmont Yacht Club events will comply with the Club’s General COVID-19 Protocols, posted on the Club website.
  • The skipper or person-in-charge of a vessel is responsible for following all Club COVID-19 Protocols, and for assuring all crew members adhere to policies, both on and off the water.
    • Continue to social distance (six feet) whenever possible to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
    • Continue to wear face covering especially when social distancing is not possible. Not only does the mask help prevent spread of the disease to another person, but it also does offer some degree of protection from acquiring the disease.
    • Use full-finger leather gloves when handling boats or lines on docks or land.
    • Comply with NYS guidelines, currently prohibiting groups over 10 persons.
  • Continue strict sanitizing of hands and surfaces that may have encounter the COVID-19 virus. This includes anything that you might touch while getting on or off your boat as well as surfaces on your boat that may have been contaminated by others. (60% alcohol disinfectant or wipes are preferred.)
  • When coming alongside another vessel and social distancing cannot be met; face covering shall be worn. This includes launches, tenders, and raft-ups.
  • Practices you may want to employ:
    • Limit crew on board to those who live under one roof or a “quaranteam” (a small group of individuals who you trust and have practiced strict social distancing and safety precautions).
    • Minimize use of shared supplies and label individual supplies and items.
    • Minimize use of shared food and drinking utensils.
    • Clean and disinfect shared tools, supplies, and equipment.
    • Clean vessel with Dawn soap and water after use.
